Andrew Gavin ’06 Named Athletic Director at Wisconsin-Parkside

DANVILLE, Ky. (CentreColonels.com) – 2006 Centre alumnus Andrew Gavin, who has served as Centre's Associate Athletic Director for Advancement and External Relations for the past two school years, announced that he has accepted the position as Athletic Director at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

Since joining the Centre Athletics staff in May 2015, the College has seen a substantial increase in athletics fundraising and corporate sponsorships for the Colonels. In addition, Gavin guides the Centre Athletics external relations team, including the communications, marketing and community service efforts.

"Andrew has done a tremendous job impacting Centre Athletics – for good – over the past two years," said Director of Athletics Brad Fields. "When we hired him in the newly restructured Associate AD for Advancement and External Relations role, I had no doubt of his potential, or his passion for Centre.  The speed at which he was able to accomplish so much was the pleasant surprise for me."

In his time, Gavin has overseen the creation of the Colonels Kids Club, the Centre Athletics Awards Show, the launch of the Centre Sports Network and CentreGear.com. Gavin also secured a two-year grant from the NCAA Ethnic Minority and Women's Internship Program.

On campus, Gavin serves on the College's Planning and Priorities Committee, Enrollment Management Committee, Bicentennial Committee, Athletics and Recreation Committee and the ad hoc committee on athletics space. He is currently participating in the NCAA's Pathway Program.

"I am excited to continue my career as the Director of Athletics at UW-Parkside, and I'm humbled by the opportunity," Gavin said. "It is not easy to leave my alma mater and the incredible people at Centre College. As I look ahead to this new chapter, I pause to thank Director of Athletics Brad Fields, President John Roush, and the countless other colleagues, fellow alumni, and Colonel supporters that have been invaluable to my journey."

"While it saddens me to lose such a valuable colleague, and friend, I know that he is excited about this next chapter in his life and the folks of Wisconsin-Parkside are going to love Andrew, Ashley, and their children," Fields added. "I will count it a blessing to watch his career blossom, beginning with this next step at UWP."

Gavin and his family will be returning to the state of Wisconsin, as he worked at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in an administrative and communications role before joining the Centre Athletics staff in the summer of 2015. UW-Parkside is a Division II school that competes in the Great Lakes Valley Conference alongside Bellarmine.
