COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) has named two-sport student-athlete Sarah Hayhurst (Newburgh, Ind.) a 2018 All-American Athlete of the Year Award recipient.
The NSCA All-American Strength and Conditioning Athletes of the Year program recognizes those collegiate and high school athletes, whose athletic accomplishments, in the opinion of their strength coach, reflect their dedication to strength training and conditioning.
Nominated by Centre Strength & Conditioning Coach Jeremy Carlson, Hayhurst adds the honor to her ever-growing trophy case that includes a total of nine All-America finishes in diving (seven) and pole vault (two).
"Sarah is an athlete that does not come around very often," Carlson said. "She has been an exemplary model of what it is like to be a student-athlete at Centre College. Her dedication to every detail allows her to succeed in her two sports and in the classroom.
"Her focus and determination to do her best in the weight room has allowed her to maximize her athletic potential and achieve her goals while at Centre College."
After finishing her diving career with a national runner-up effort in the 1 meter, Hayhurst will compete this spring with the track & field squad in pole vaulting.
