CLEVELAND – Centre athletics finished the 2017-18 season ranked 89th among nearly 450 NCAA Division III programs in the final Learfield Directors' Cup standings.
The Learfield Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
After finishing 121st in 2016-17, the Colonels were buoyed by a strong fall season that saw the Centre field hockey team reach the Elite Eight. Women's soccer and women's cross country also tallied points in the fall.
The Colonels garnered points in the winter term, as well, with women's swimming & diving making an NCAA Championship appearance.
All of Centre's spring points came in women's track & field, where junior Annie Rodenfels (Centerpoint, Ohio) carried the load with her National Championship effort in the 3000m steeplechase.
