The Centre College baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to Rhodes College in the opening SCAC games for both teams Saturday, March 24 in Danville, Ky.
The Colonels lost game one 8-1. The game was scoreless until the Lynx scored five in the fifth, one in the sixth and two more in the seventh, while the Colonels' lone run came off junior Danny Freudiger's (Cincinnati, Ohio) third home run of the season.
Senior pitcher Joe Nash (Elizabethtown, Ky.) took the loss allowing six runs - two earned - over six innings. The senior walked two and struck out five to fall to 3-1.
Rhodes (14-8 overall, 2-0 SCAC) led 7-0 after three innings of game two en-route to a 10-0 win.
Senior pitcher Ben Lause (Mason, Ohio) fell to 2-2 on the year by allowing eight runs - four earned - in three innings of work. Lause walked one and struck out five.
Freudiger, senior catcher Cameron Fishman (Northridge, Calif.) and sophomore outfielder Cody Nelson (Joelton, Tenn.) had a hit each in the defeat.
Centre, now 10-13 overall and 0-2 in the SCAC, will play Rhodes again Sunday in the series finale. Start time is set for 1 p.m. at Gary Wright Field in Danville, Ky.
