@CentreBaseball Falls to Sewanee in SAA Tournament

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (CentreColonels.com) - The Centre baseball team was downed by a score of 13-3 to Sewanee in an elimination game at the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Tournament on Saturday afternoon at Striplin Field in Birmingham, Ala.

The Colonels cap the 2017 season with an 18-22 record. The Tigers boost their ledger to 19-22 with the win. 

Sophomore center fielder Wesley Jorette (Lawrenceburg, Ky.) went 2-for-4 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored.

Freshman left fielder Will Kirk (Morgantown, N.C.) finished 1-for-1 with a pair of walks and a run, while senior first baseman Greyson Evans (Kernersville, N.C.) and sophomore designated hitter Mason Falbo (Mississauga, Ontario) each drove in a run in the contest. 

Senior Trevor Brewer (Bowling Green, Ky.) was tagged witht the loss for Centre, allowing four earned runs on five hits in 1 1/3 innings of work. Sophomore Aaryn Chandler (St. John, Ind.) tossed an inning of scoreless relief for the Colonels. 

Jackson Cooper paced Sewanee at the plate going 3-for-5 with a double, three RBI and a run. 

Centre's 18 wins were the most for the Colonels since the 2008 season when Centre finished with a 20-17 record.
