Barker Nets Hat Trick in 10-1 Rout of Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. (CentreColonels.com) – Junior forward Hayley Barker (Louisville, Ky.) posted her second hat trick of the season to help the Centre field hockey team to a 10-1 triumph in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) matchup at Hendrix on Sunday afternoon.

The Colonels improved to 3-3 overall and 1-1 in SAA play, while the Warriors dropped to 2-4 on the season and 1-1 in conference action.

Hendrix got on the board first with an early goal just over a minute into the contest, before Centre responded with 10 unanswered goals.

Barker netted the Colonels' first three goals of the day, the first assisted by freshman midfielder Caroline Brotzge (Louisville, Ky.).

Sophomore forward Emily Schank (Louisville, Ky.) added a pair of goals, while senior defender Nicole DeHerde (Hope, N.J.), junior forward Brooklyn Bell (Louisville, Ky.), freshman midfielder Savannah Elpers (Louisville, Ky.), senior forward Kelsey Gordon (Louisville, Ky.) and senior forward Cole Jordan (Louisville, Ky.) each added goals in the win.

Elpers, who scored her first career goal in the game also added her first career assist for the Colonels. Senior defender Kathryn Hardesty (Louisville, Ky.) notched a pair of assists. Jordan also recorded an assist for Centre.

The Colonels outshot the Warriors 58-8 in the win and held a 15-2 advantage in penalty corners.

Centre returns to action this Wednesday night hosting Transylvania in the annual #PLAY4THECURE game at 7 p.m. at the South Campus Field.
