DANVILLE, Ky. (CentreColonels.com) – The Centre field hockey team scored five goals in the final 13 minutes of the first half en route to a 6-0 triumph over visiting local rival Transylvania on Wednesday night at the South Campus Field. The Colonels boosted their record to 4-3 on the year, while the Pioneers dropped to 0-6.

Wednesday night's contest marked the sixth annual #Play4TheCure game for Centre, as the Colonels were decked out in pink to raise awareness for cancer research. All proceeds raised at the game will be donated to the National Foundation for Cancer Research.

After the two teams played scoreless field hockey through the first 22 minutes of action, the Colonels took control with a pair of quick goals, as senior forward Cole Jordan (Louisville, Ky.) and senior forward Alicia Kalbfleisch (Louisville, Ky.) each found the back of the cage to give Centre a 2-0 lead.

Later in the half, the Colonels would score three more times in a span of 2:17, as Jordan scored again followed by goals by sophomore forward Emily Schank (Louisville, Ky.) and junior forward Brooklyn Bell (Louisville, Ky.), pushing the Centre advantage to 5-0 heading into halftime.

Just over three minutes into the second half, Barker tacked on another goal to extend the Colonels' lead to 6-0.

Jordan finished with two goals to lead the Colonels, while Barker and Schank each added a goal and an assist.

Freshman midfielder Savannah Elpers (Louisville, Ky.) and senior midfielder Megan Flocken (Dexter, Mich.) each chipped in an assist in the victory.

The Colonels held advantages of 27-2 in shots and 7-3 in 7-3 in penalty corners.

Centre returns to action with a non-conference contest against Roanoke on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the South Campus Field.
