Shots (on goal)
GREENCASTLE, Ind. – Centre field hockey had its six-game winning streak snapped Saturday, falling 2-0 on the road against regional foe DePauw.
The Colonels (6-2) dropped their first contest since the season opener against Kenyon, and were shutout for the first time this year. DePauw (6-3) picks up its fourth win in a row.
The host Tigers got on the board in the 22 minute when Reilly Bruce found the back of the net, and they would carry the 1-0 lead into the half.
Centre had four first-half shots, two of which were on target but turned aside by DePauw's Hannah Metzger.
The Colonels came out attacking in the second period, but despite 14 shots could not find a way to score.
DePauw would add a late tally in the 68th minute to seal the victory.
The Colonels finished with 18 shots and six on goal, compared to DePauw's nine total and five on goal. Centre also had 10 penalty corners to DePauw's two.
Sophomore goalie Kristen Mulcahy (Cedarburg, Wis.) finished with three saves for Centre.
The Colonels return to action Sunday, facing SAA opponent Concordia (Wis.) in a neutral-site match at DePauw at 2:30 p.m. Centre defeated Concordia 4-0 earlier this season in a non-conference meeting.
