DANVILLE, Ky. (CentreColonels.com) – The Centre men's basketball team saw its four-game winning streak snapped by Hendrix on Sunday afternoon, as the Warriors came away with a 64-62 win over the host Colonels in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) matchup at Alumni Gymnasium.
The loss marked the first of the season in conference play for Centre, who moves to 8-6 overall and 4-1 in SAA play, while the Warriors capture their third straight win to boost their records to 7-8 and 3-2 in conference action.
In the first half of action, the Colonels scored six straight points to gain their largest lead of the game at 25-17 following a jumper by sophomore forward Jarod Griffin (Lexington, Ky.) with 6:25 showing on the clock.

In the second half, Centre held a slim 53-52 advantage at the 7:43 mark before the Warriors answered with an 8-0 run to take a 60-53 lead with 4:37 to play in the contest.
The Colonels responded with an 8-2 spurt capped by two straight baskets by freshman guard Perry Ayers (Bowling Green, Ky.) to minimize the Hendrix lead to 62-61 with 13 ticks remaining.

Following a Centre foul, Hendrix would miss both free throw attempts, giving the Colonels a shot to tie or take the lead, but freshman guard Art Walker's (Mt. Sterling, Ky.) 3-point attempt at the buzzer was just off the mark.
Walker led Centre with 13 points off the bench, connecting on 5-of-8 field goals, including 3-of-4 makes from behind the arc.
Gump finished with 12 points, making 4-of-7 field goals, 1-of-2 3-pointers and 3-of-6 free throws.
