Centre Men in Fifth, Riley Leads after Opening Round of Transy Invite
LEXINGTON, Ky. (CentreColonels.com) - The 2016-17 season is underway for the Centre men's golf team as the Colonels played the first 36 holes at the Transylvania Fall Invitational at the University of Kentucky's Big Blue Course. The Colonels sit in fifth place with 18 holes to go, with senior Carson Riley (Hendersonville, Tenn.) tied for the individual lead.
The Colonels shot a score of 603 over the first 36 holes of competition, trailing Kenyon by three shots and Gustavus Adolphus by six. Centre is one shot ahead of Guilford and nine shots ahead of host Transylvania. Greensboro is the clubhouse leader after the first day of play.
Individually, Carson Riley shot two under par for the day with a two-round score of 142 to tie with Greensboro's Grant Powell. Senior Dakota Jarman (Danville, Ky.) posted a score of 153, while sophomore Jake Mattingly (Louisville, Ky.) finished one shot back at 154.
Junior Will Hellman (Louisville, Ky.) and senior Ben Davis (Lexington, Ky.) rounded out the Colonels' Saturday with respective scores of 155 and 158. Junior Andrew McKinney (Danville, Ky.) competed as an individual and posted a score of 154.
