Colonels Take Sixth Place at Transylvania Invitational
LEXINGTON, Ky. (CentreColonels.com) – The final round of play at the Transylvania Fall Invitational is in the books from the Big Blue Course at the University of Kentucky, and the Centre men's golf team finished in sixth place after 54 holes of play.
The Colonels shot a final round score of 300 on Sunday for a three-round total of 903, seven shots back of Guilford and four shots ahead of Kenyon. Greensboro led the tournament wire to wire to take first place
Individually, the low score of the day for the Colonels belonged to senior Dakota Jarman (Danville, Ky.), who shot an even par round of 72to finish with a total of 225 for the tournament. Senior Ben Davis (Lexington, Ky.) and junior Will Hellman (Louisville, Ky.) each posted scores of 75 on Sunday.
Sophomore Jake Mattingly (Louisville, Ky.) fired a score of 78 for Centre in the third round, while senior Carson Riley (Hendersonville, Tenn.) rounded out Centre's Sunday scores with a round of 79. Riley was the low man for the Colonels in the tournament, tying for eighth place overall with a three-day total of 221.
Junior Andrew McKinney (Danville, Ky.) played as an individual and improved as the tournament progressed, firing an even par score of 72 on Sunday for a three-day total of 226.
The next tournament for the Centre men's golf team will be the annual trip to Tunica, Miss. and Tunica National G.C. as the Colonels do battle in the Rhodes Fall Collegiate Classic on Sept. 11-12.
