Tunica Resorts, Miss. ( – The Centre men's golf team shot a 301 (+13) in the first round of the Rhodes College Fall Classic on Sunday at Tunica National good for eighth place at the event. Colonel senior Carson Riley (Hendersonville, Tenn.) was one of four golfers in the field to finish with 14 pars through the first 18 holes, firing an even-par score of 72 and sitting in a tie for ninth to pace Centre.

Sewanee and No. 16 Texas-Tyler lead the event with scores of 290, followed by seventh-ranked Rhodes in third (293), the Lynx "B" team in fourth (295), while No. 12 Emory (298) and Webster (298) are tied for fifth.

The Colonels currently lead two ranked squads in No. 10 Berry (10th – 304) and No. 21 Transylvania (11th - 306).

Texas-Tyler's Brandon Rougeau tops the leaderboard with a score of 67 (-5), finishing with a pair of eagles and three birdies during the first 18 holes.

Millikin's Blaine Buente, Sewanee's Gray Matthews and Alex Wedding as well as Emory's Sean Murphy are tied for second place with scores of 69 (-3). Wedding tallied a first round-high seven birdies on the day.

Riley began his round with four consecutive pars before posting a birdie on the par-four fifth hole, followed by another four straight pars, closing the front nine with a score of 35 (-1).

The senior sunk another birdie on 10 before tallying three straight pars, leaving him at two-under through 13 holes. Riley would close out the round with three pars and a pair of bogeys for a plus-one score of 36 on the back nine.

Senior Dakota Jarman (Danville, Ky.) posted a team-high three birdies on the day, closing his round with a score of 75, good for a tie for 26th. Jarman finished strong, firing a 34 on the back nine after shooting a 41 on the front.

Junior Will Hellman (Louisville, Ky.) shot a 76 (+4) and is currently tied for 36th after the first round. He had a pair of birdies on the day, recording a 39 on the front and 37 on the back.

Senior Andrew Horn (Franklin, Tenn.) and sophomore Jake Mattingly (Louisville, Ky.) are tied for 45th through 18 holes, shooting a 78 (+6).  

The second and final round of the Rhodes Invitational will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT tomorrow morning at Tunica National. Follow live results of the event here:
