Colonels Cap Day One of Jekyll Island Collegiate

JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. (CentreColonels.com) - The 21st-ranked Centre men's golf team wrapped up day one of the Jekyll Island Collegiate on Friday, shooting a 317 through 18 holes to close the day in 27th place.

The Colonels are one of 15 top-25 teams at the event. 

Senior Carson Riley (Hendersonville, Tenn.) paced Centre on day one, firing a 76 (+4) followed by classmate Dakota Jarman (Danville, Ky.) with a 77 (+5).

After posting four bogies with a birdie and four pars to finish three-over on the back nine, Riley tallied three birdies and three pars on the front nine, good for a one-over 37 on the front. 

Jarman recorded an eagle on the 18th hole to go with three pars on the back nine to finish at an even 36, before compiling six pars on the front. The senior is tied for third in par-five scoring after 18 holes with a 4.25 average. 

Junior Hall Rupert (Powells Point, N.C.) recorded an 80 (+8) while junior Andrew McKinney (Danville, Ky.) recorded an 84 (+12) and sophomore Jake Mattingly (Louisville, Ky.) posted an 88 (+16) for the Colonels. 

Centre is back in action on day two of the Jekyll Collegiate on Saturday morning.
