@CentreGolf Competes at Grandover Division III Match Play Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. (CentreColonels.com) - The 30th-ranked Centre men's golf team took part in the first two rounds of the Grandover Division III Match Play Championship on Sunday at the Grandover Resort West Course in Greensboro, N.C. Playing in a field in which seven of the eight teams rank in the top 30 in Division III, the Colonels dropped a pair of matchups to No. 14 Washington & Lee and No. 18 Guilford on day one of the event. 

No. 23 Carson Riley (Hendersonville, Tenn.) earned the lone victory against the 14th-ranked Generals, besting Robert Quinilty with a 3&2 defeat. The senior won five holes over his counterpart to go with eight draws. Washington & Lee collected the 4-1 triumph over Centre. 

The Colonels were edged by the 18th-ranked Quakers 3-1-1, as four of the five matchups came down to the final hole. 

Junior Andrew McKinney (Danville, Ky.) picked up a 1-up win over Harrison Frye, as McKinney bested Frye 3-4 on the 14th hole en route to the victory. 

Riley was all squared with No. 51 Kendall Dunn through 18 holes, shooting a four compared to Dunn's five on the 18th hole to seal the draw for the Colonels.
