Centre opens play at Golfweek DIII Fall Invitational

SANDESTIN, Fla. - The opening round is in the books at the Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational at Raven G.C. With two days and 36 holes of competition left in the tournament, the Centre men's golf team sits in 18th place.

The Colonels shot a combined team score of 324 on Sunday, 20 shots back of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. Concordia (Texas) leads the tournament after the opening round of play, followed by St. Thomas and Guilford.

Individually, the low score of the day for Centre belonged to senior Hall Rupert (Powells Point, N.C.), who overcame a rough stretch in the middle of his round to play his last five holes at one under par for a round of 78.

Junior Hans Stromberg (Lexington, Ky.) posted a score of 80 for his opening round, including consecutive birdies on the par 4 14th and 15th holes.

Senior Andrew McKinney (Danville, Ky.) finished with a round of 81, while senior Paxton Duff (Louisville, Ky.) and junior Will Hellman (Louisville, Ky.) each shot scores of 85 to finish off the scoring for the day for the Colonels.
