Stromberg paces Colonels on day 2 of SAA Championships
DICKSON, Tenn. - The Centre men's golf team has played through two rounds at the Southern Athletic Association Championships and with 18 holes remaning, the Colonels sit in sixth place.
The Colonels improved on their Friday effort with a combined team score of 305 on Saturday as they currently sit one shot back of Berry and nine back of Birmingham Southern.
Individually, the best round of the day for Centre belonged to junior Hans Stromberg (Lexington, Ky.), who went one under par for the day with a score of 71. Stromberg tied for the lowest round by any player in the field on Saturday and was one of three rounds under par for the day as the highlight of his round was three consecutive birdies at the turn. The round of 71 put Stromberg in a tie for third place overall.
Junior Zach Mattingly (Louisville, Ky.) finished with a score of 75, going even par on his front nine. Senior Hall Rupert (Powells Point, N.C.) posted a score of 79 with a pair of birdies on the back nine.
Junior Jake Mattingly (Louisville, Ky.), who was the low man for Centre on Friday, finished with a round of 80 on Saturday. Seniors Andrew McKinney (Danville, Ky.) and Will Hellman (Louisville, Ky.) finished off Centre's Saturday with respective scores of 81 and 82.
