ATLANTA (CentreColonels.com) - The Southern Athletic Association released its weekly awards for the final week of play in the 2017 men's lacrosse season and Centre junior goalkeeper Sam Long (Cincinnati, Ohio) earned the league's Defensive Player of the Week honors for games played through Apr. 16.

Long had a pair of outstanding games in net as the Colonels took on Rhodes and Hendrix in SAA road contests. Against Hendrix on Friday, Long finished with 21 saves, one shy of a career high, while also picking up five ground balls.

In the regular season finale at Rhodes, Long followed up his stellar Friday performance with 17 more saves and three more ground balls.

In racking up 38 saves across two games this week, Long's save percentage was .704, and he leads all SAA goalkeepers with a .606 save percentage for the season.

The Centre men's lacrosse team will face Berry at 7:00 PM on Saturday night in SAA Tournament Quarterfinal play.
