McClellan named SAA Defensive Player of the Week
ATLANTA - Earlier today the Southern Athletic Association released its first batch of weekly awards for men's lacrosse and Centre senior Ross McClellan (Louisville, Ky.) took home the league's first Defensive Player of the Week award of the season.
McClellan had a stellar performance on the defensive end in Centre's 5-4 victory against Piedmont in the season opener. The senior defender finished with two ground balls and forced three turnovers, including two in the final three minutes of action.
McClellan's last forced turnover and ground ball pickup with 49 seconds remaining gave Centre the final possession of the contest, which the Colonels eventually converted into the game-winning goal in the 5-4 win.
The Centre men's lacrosse team will return to action on Feb. 14 when they travel to Alabama to take on Huntingdon.
