GREENCASTLE, Ind. (CentreColonels.com) – The 22nd-ranked Centre men's soccer team remained unbeaten in 2016 with a 3-2 overtime victory over host DePauw on Saturday afternoon at Reavis Field.

Senior forward Christian Gateskill's (Danville, Ky.) second goal of the season in the 100th minute of action lifted the Colonels to victory, boosting Centre's record to 5-0. The Tigers dropped to 3-1-2 with the loss.

After a scoreless first half, the Colonels scored two straight goals early in the second stanza. The first came from sophomore midfielder Jacob Haddad (Brentwood, Tenn.) on the assist by senior midfielder Phil Shehan (Orlando, Fla.) in the 46th minute followed by another score just under four minutes later by junior defender Jesse DiLuzio (North Woodmere, N.Y.).

DePauw fought back with a pair of goals as EJ Moore found the back of the net in the 64th minute, before Parker James netted his first goal of the season in the 83rd minute of play, sending the contest into overtime.

Late in the first bonus period, Gateskill's header off the assist by Haddad solidified the Colonels' fifth consecutive win.

Haddad, Shehan and senior forward Jacob Winkler (Danville, Ky.) each had three shots apiece to lead Centre.

Sophomore goalkeeper Bailey Spade (Frankfort, Ky.) made six saves between the pipes for the Colonels.

DePauw held a slight advantage in shots at 18-16, but Centre edged the Tigers 7-6 in corner kicks.

The Colonels travel to Kenyon on Wednesday afternoon for a battle of ranked squads, as the Lords enter the contest as the second-ranked team in the country. The match is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
