@CentreSoccer Releases 2017 Schedule

DANVILLE, Ky. (CentreColonels.com) - This week head coach Jeb Burch announced the 2017 schedule for the defending Southern Athletic Association Tournament champion Centre soccer team as the Colonels look to make it two conference titles in a row.

The Colonels will open their 2017 season in grand style with a pair of tournaments to commemorate the opening of Andrew P. Amend Field and the brand new Centre soccer complex that opened this past winter. Centre will begin the season with the Centre College Alumni Classic that will see Bluffton, Georgetown (Ky.) and Spalding, all coached by former Centre players, join the Colonels in tournament action.

After a midweek game at Thomas More, the Colonels will welcome Baldwin Wallace and Kenyon along with Spalding for the 28th Annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic, the longest running tournament for any Centre athletic program.

An NCAA rematch with DePauw will be the only home game for Centre in the next seven contests as the Colonels will spend most of the next three weeks on the road. Centre will play Transylvania and Maryville as well as four straight road games to open SAA play, including trips to last year's top seed Oglethorpe and second seed Millsaps.

The Colonels will close the season with three of their final four games at home, with a trip to Berea in between. Centre will look to avenge a regular season loss against Rhodes and will also face Hendrix and Sewanee, the teams with the two worst records in the conference a season ago.

The 2017 season opener will be at 8:30 on Sept. 1 when Centre takes on Georgetown College. Centre pulled away for a 4-0 victory over the Tigers in last year's Centre Alumni Classic.
