DiLuzio's first-half goal carries Colonels past Panthers

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Centre College men's soccer won its third consecutive Southern Athletic Association (SAA) match and remained unbeaten in conference play with a 1-0 victory Wednesday at Birmingham Southern.
The Colonels improve to 8-4-2 overall and 4-0-2 in the SAA, picking up a crucial win prior to the final conference match of the season Saturday. BSC drops to 6-6-2 overall and 2-3-1 in-conference.
DiLuzio's fourth goal of the campaign proved to be the game winner, as the two sides battled for the remainder of the half and the entire second 45 minutes to a scoreless draw.
Centre finished with 12 shots and five on goal to BSC's 11 and two, and had nine corners to the hosts' one.
Junior keeper Bailey Spade (Frankfort, Ky.) stopped both of the Panthers' shots on target, recording his fifth clean sheet of the season.
Centre is now 13-4 all-time against Birmingham Southern.
The Colonels face in-state opponent Berea tomorrow (Thursday) at 7:30 p.m. on the road before wrapping up the regular season at home against Sewanee Saturday for Homecoming.
