Colonels Open Spring Break Trip with 7-2 Victory at Randolph-Macon
ASHLAND, Va. (CentreColonels.com) – The Centre men's tennis team earned a 7-2 triumph over host Randolph-Macon on Sunday to open the Colonels' spring break trip. Centre won five of six matchups in singles play after collecting two victories in doubles action.
The Colonels even their record at 4-4 with the win while the Yellow Jackets fall to 2-4 on the season.
Middleton won by scores of 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and 8-5 with teammate Adam Slone (Lexington, Ky.) at the third doubles slot. Ko earned a three-set win at the No. 4 singles position after coming out victorious by a score of 8-2 at No. 2 doubles with Akmon, who also earned a 6-1, 6-0 triumph at No. 2 singles.
In addition, senior Caleb Smith (Morristown, Tenn.) and sophomore Ben Hadlock (Okemos, Mich.) each bested their opponents in singles action. Smith won in three sets at the No. 5 slot while Hadlock won in straight sets at sixth singles.
The Colonels are back in action tomorrow at Washington College at 4 p.m. ET.
