OBERLIN, Ohio – The Centre men's tennis squad opened their season on the road, falling 9-0 against Oberlin College in the Heisman Field House.

Centre (0-1) hung tough in doubles action, but was ultimately swept by the host Yeomen.

The closest battle came at No. 1, where Oberlin's pairing of Camron Cohen and Stephen Gruppuso gutted out a 9-8 (7-1) win over freshman Arpit Maini (Spartanburg, S.C) and sophomore Trey Akmon (Louisville, Ky.).

Oberlin would officially clinch the victory with wins in Nos. 1 and 3 singles.

Two Colonels forced three sets in their respective singles bouts, including at No. 4, where Akmon fell to Manickam Manickam, 6-7(7), 6-1, 1-0 (10-4).

In No. 6 singles, junior Ben Hadlock (Okemos, Mich.) dropped a 3-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-6) match against Cohen.

Centre is in action next weekend at Ohio Wesleyan Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. ET.
