Centre men’s tennis earns 6-3 win against Midway

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's tennis defeated in-state NAIA member Midway Sunday, 6-3, earning their second win of the weekend.

The Colonels improve to 2-4 on the young season, while the visiting Eagles slip to 2-5.

Ben Hadlock (Okemos, Mich.) and Max Middleton (Atlanta) opened scoring with an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles against Jacob Sergent and Stephen Pueterbaugh

At No. 3 doubles, Beau Brown (Batesville, Ind.) and Quinn Pritchett (Salt Lake City) handed Jake Franke and Dustin Johnson an 8-1 defeat in No. 3 doubles.

Midway picked up a point at No. 1 doubles, making it 2-1 as the teams went to singles action.

Hadlock earned another point for the Colonels at No. 3 singles, again besting Sergent by a 6-1, 6-1 mark.

Brown put Centre on the brink of overall victory with a 6-3, 6-2 decision against Pueterbaugh at No. 4 singles.

Pritchett officially clinched the Colonels' Sunday win in No. 6 singles, dropping Johnson by a lopsided 6-0, 6-0 score.

The Eagles would pick up wins on courts one and two, but Danville product Josh Joiner closed the affair with a 6-0, 6-2 win against Franke at No. 5 singles.

Centre officially opens Southern Athletic Association play next weekend, hosting Sewanee March 10. The Colonels will also meet Hanover following their match with the Tigers.
