Colonels take first SAA victory of the season in 8-1 win at Hendrix

CONWAY, Ark. – Centre men's tennis earned its first Southern Athletic Association victory of the season Sunday, dropping Hendrix by a wide 8-1 margin.

The Colonels move to 5-10 overall with a 1-4 mark in SAA action, while the host Warriors dip to 0-11 (0-5 SAA). 

Centre claimed two of the three doubles matches, as the No. 2 pair of Matthew Ko (Nicholasville, Ky.) and Josh Joiner (Danville, Ky.) defeated Luke Lefler and Henry Dana, 8-4.

Max Middleton (Atlanta) and Ben Hadlock (Okemos, Mich.) swept Dylon MaassonVetters and Sasin Payakachat, 8-0.

The Colonels won all six singles matches - five in straight sets and one (Ko over Robbie Kiss) by default.

Arpit Maini (Spartanburg, S.C.) made quick work of Kristian Lenser on court one, 6-1, 6-3, and Middleton followed at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-2 decision over Daniel Habenicht.

Adam Slone (Lexington, Ky.) defeated Lefler, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 3 singles, and Hadlock cruised past Payakachat in No. 5, 6-0, 6-1. 

Finally, Joiner took No. 6 singles by a 6-1, 6-2 mark over MaassonVetters.

The Colonels close the regular season next weekend on the road, beginning Saturday at Oglethorpe at 9 a.m. ET.
