Majors end Colonels’ season in SAA quarterfinals

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Centre men's tennis closed the book on its 2017-18 season Friday, falling by a 5-1 score against Millsaps in the Southern Athletic Association Tournament.

The seven-seed Colonels finish 5-13 overall while the two-seed Majors – ranked ninth in the Atlantic South Region – improve to 16-6 and advance to Saturday's semifinal.

Centre's lone point came in No. 3 doubles, where Max Middleton (Atlanta) and Ben Hadlock (Okemos, Mich.) paired up to defeat the Majors' Jacob Niehaus and Jack Goodwin, 8-6.

Centre's top duo of Arpit Maini (Spartanburg, S.C.) and Adam Slone (Lexington, Ky.) had to face the region's top-ranked tandem, Davis Plummer and Alex Centurion, winning a few games before falling, 8-3.

Millsaps captured the first three complete singles matches to clinch its spot in the semifinals, where it meets three-seed Birmingham Southern.
