    Polio selected as NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winner After graduating in May, Centre distance runner Willie Polio continues to receive honors for his combination of academic and athletic prowess. On top of being named as Centre’s male valedictorian and male athlete of the year, Polio recently received one of the top honors in college athletics when he was selected as an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship winner.

    Colonels win SCAC track championship The Centre men’s track and field team has won the 2012 SCAC Track and Field Championship after the conclusion of competition today in Birmingham, Ala. It was the second conference championship in Centre history and Centre’s second consecutive conference championship.

    Colonels lead after day 1 of SCAC Championships The Centre men’s track and field team is in good shape after the first day of action at the SCAC Championship meet at Birmingham Southern. With seven events scored and in the books, the Colonels are in first place with 94 points, while host school Birmingham Southern is in second with 42.5 points.

    Colonels set personal best in final pre-conference meet The Centre men’s track and field team had one last regular season meet to prepare themselves for the SCAC Championships, at the EKU Twilight on April 20. Although EKU kept records of the event that have been posted on our results page, points were not awarded at every event, so the meet was not officially scored. However, the Colonels did have some showings that would have scored points, including a few personal best performances.

    Colonels finish fourth at Cumberlands The Centre men’s track and field team competed in the University of the Cumberlands Track and Field Invitational this Saturday and, despite not competing with a full roster, still managed to finish fourth out of 14 teams at the event. Top eight finishers scored points at this meet.

    Centre men kick off outdoor season at Rhodes The Centre men's track and field team began its outdoor season at the Rhodes Open Meet in Memphis on Saturday. Competing against teams from all divisions, the Colonels were able to land in the top 50 in all of Division III in ten events.

    Distance runners shine at Capital Classic The Centre men’s track and field team competed in its second indoor meet of the year yesterday at the Capital Indoor Invitational in Columbus, Ohio. The Colonels finished with 35 points thanks in large part to the scoring of their distance runners.

    Colonels impressive in men's track opener, Kieffer sets record The Centre men’s track and field team traveled to Greencastle, Ind. for the DePauw Indoor Invitational, their first meet of the season. The Colonels came away with 29 points at today’s meet, including two individual winners.

    2012 Men's Track and Field season preview The Centre men’s track and field team will look to repeat as SCAC Champions this spring. In 2011, the Colonels narrowly defeated runner-up Rhodes College by 16 points at the SCAC Championships. The Colonels lost major point-getters in Clinton Cahall (distance), James Bozarth (throws), Chrys Jones (jumps), and Mike Morrison (sprints), but they hope to make up points with a strong group of returners and the addition of a fine recruiting class.

Centre's Track and Cross Country programs were represented well at the event, taking four of the eight major awards given out to college athletes and coaches.
