BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (CentreColonels.com) – The Centre men's track and field team finished competition at the 2016 Southern Athletic Association Championships at Birmingham Southern. The Colonels finished in second place overall and added to their list of all-conference performances from Friday.

Senior Victor Pataky (Columbus, Ohio) picked up where he left off on Friday with an event win, taking first place in the men's 5k with a time of 15:17.25 to beat the second place time by over eight seconds. Pataky was joined in the scoring column in that event by sophomore Nathan Riggs (Campbellsville, Ky.), who posted a time of 15:48.20 for sixth place. Pataky also finished fifth in the 1500m, with junior Alex Stickney (Springboro, Ohio) also scoring for the Colonels in that event with an eighth place finish.
Centre picked up two of the three all-conference honors in the discus as sophomore J.D. Dotson (White House, Tenn.) finished second with a throw of 41.83 meters and freshman Bryce Whitman (Franklin, Tenn.) finished right behind Dotson at 41.27 meters for third place.
More All-SAA honors came for the Colonels in the hurdling events as sophomore Allen Hayes (Charlotte, N.C.) took second place in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.66 and then followed that up with a seventh place finish in the 400m hurdles. Two additional hurdlers scored for Centre in the 110m competition as junior Seth Yocum (Danville, Ky.) finished seventh and sophomore Daniel Crall (Danville, Ky.) finished eighth.
In the high jump, freshman Demontre Lewis (Cincinnati, Ohio) earned All-SAA honors by finishing in third place with a clear of 6-04.00. Junior Elijah Scott (Cambridge, Mass.) tied for fourth in the same event with a clear of 6-02.00. Lewis's afternoon was not done, as he also finished fifth in the 200m and sixth in the 100m. Sophomore Tristen Morrow (Danville, Ky.) also scored in the 200m with an eighth place finish, but his best finish of the day was a second place finish in the 400m with a time of 50.47, good for all-conference recognition. Senior Daniel Graham (Granite Bay, Calif.) also entered the scoring column in the 400m, finishing fifth.
The final points of the day for the Colonels came courtesy of their relay squads, as both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams for Centre finished fourth in their respective events.
The next meet for the Centre track teams will be the last chance meet at the University of Kentucky, where individuals will look to bolster their personal bests in the hopes of earning an NCAA berth.
