Colonels Post Ninth Place Finish at Centre Invitational
DANVILLE, Ky. (CentreColonels.com) - The Centre men's track and field team recorded a ninth-place finish at the 51st Centre Invitational on Saturday at Farris Stadium. The Colonels posted 36 points on the day.
Case Western won the event with 122 points, followed by Ohio Northern second with 117.50 points and Campbellsville third with 68.50 points.
Sophomore Rhoman James (Lexington, Ky.) was Centre's leading points scorer on the day, highlighted by a second-place finish in the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.07. James also posted a fifth-place mark of 22.70 in the 200 meter dash and a sixth-place finish in the 4x100 meter relay with a time of 44.11 with teammates senior Rubyn Branch (Arlington, Tenn.), sophomore Stone Fentzlaff (Fairview, N.C.) and junior Tristen Morrow (Danville, Ky.).
Freshman Collin Wells (Louisville, Ky.) placed third in the 800 meter run, finishing in 1:56.64 for the Colonels.
Sophomore Bryce Whitman (Franklin, Tenn.) recorded a fourth-place mark of 41.38m in the discus throw for Centre.
Freshman Evan Miller (Worthington, Ohio) placed seventh for the Colonels in the 10,000m run with a time of 34:09.94, while senior Alex Stickney finished eighth in the 3000m steeplechase with a mark of 10:25.87.
Sophomore William Blackford (Louisville, Ky.) added a seventh-place mark of 6.26m in the long jump and an eighth-place finish in the javelin throw with a heave of 45.64m.
Junior Bryce Marshall (Danville, Ky.) finished sixth in the pole vault, clearing 3.50m for Centre.
The Colonels return to action next Saturday, April 8 at the DePauw Invitational in Greencastle, Ind.
