Centre men return to DePauw for Indoor Classic
GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Centre men's track and field team traveled to DePauw University for the second meet in as many weeks as the Colonels brought a partial squad to the DePauw Indoor Classic. Despite competing without the usual team depth, the Colonels managed 25.50 points in a ninth place finish.
The first points for the Colonels came in the 60m dash, where junior Rhoman James (Lexington, Ky.) posted a time of 7.22, good for fifth place overall and four points for his team.
In the 400m, sophomore Mason Isgrig (Weaverville, N.C.) posted a time of 53.77 to finish in eighth place for his first collegiate track and field scoring performance.
Sophomore Thomas Burkey (Greeneville, Tenn.) managed a tie for fifth place in the high jump, clearing 5-10.75 to earn 3.5 points for the Colonels. He was immediately followed by freshman Patrick Gago (Cookeville, Tenn.), who made the same clear but finished with one more foul for seventh place. Gago did score four more points for Centre in the triple jump with a fifth place mark of 37-10.00.
In the long jump, freshman Thomas Jordan (Birmingham, Ala.) turned in an impressive performance with a mark of 20-06.25, good for third place overall.
Centre's final points for the meet came in the shot put as junior Hunter Gann (Bowling Green, Ky.) placed sixth with a throw of 41-00.25, followed closely by freshman Allen Richardson (Cookeville, Tenn.), who finished seventh with a mark of 40-09.00.
The next indoor meet for the Colonels will take place on Feb. 24 at Anderson for the Fred Wilt Invite.
