Centre men keep indoor season rolling at Anderson
ANDERSON, Ind. – The indoor track and field season continued for the Centre men as the Colonels brought a partial squad to Anderson University for the Fred Wilt Memorial Indoor Invite, facing mostly teams from across the state of Indiana. The meet was not scored, but the Colonels still put on some of their strongest performances of the indoor season.
In the long jump, freshman Thomas Jordan (Birmingham, Ala.) put up a mark of 6.36 meters to finish in fourth place. Additionally, Jordan finished third in the 60m hurdles, finishing in 8.75. Junior William Blackford (Louisville, Ky.) tied for sixth place with a mark of 6.31 meters. Blackford also finished second in the triple jump, clearing 12.69 meters.
The 5k was a good event for the Colonels as sophomore Evan Miller (Worthington, Ohio) and freshmen Andrew Edwards (Louisville, Ky.) all finished in the top ten for the race, with Miller's time of 16:01.12 leading the way for the Colonels, finishing fourth overall.
Senior Nathan Riggs (Campbellsville, Ky.) had a strong meet for the Colonels. He won the 800m with a time of 2:01.63, the only event win for the Colonels for the day. Riggs moved on to the mile, where he posted a time of 4:25.95 to finish in seventh place.
Next up for the Centre men's track and field team will be the various last chance meets for individuals to finetune their top performances in attempts to qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships.
