Centre men take third at Berea Invite
BEREA, Ky. – Saturday marked the second consecutive trip for the Centre cross country teams to Berea College, this time competing in the Berea Invitational. Running on a five-mile track this time around, the Centre men placed third out of 11 teams.
Centre finished with 60 points on the men's side, 14 points behind second place Campbellsville. Host school Berea won the event, with Tennessee Wesleyan and Asbury finishing off the rest of the top five.
Individually, senior Nathan Riggs (Campbellsville, Ky.) posted the top time of the day for the Colonels, completing five miles at Berea in 27:08.4 to take third place overall.
Sophomore Evan Miller (Worthington, Ohio) was the next fastest time for Centre at 28:15.9, good for 11th overall. Freshman David McGrade (New Orleans, La.) placed two spots back of Miller with a time of 28:30.2.
Rounding out the scores for Centre, freshman Noel Dingle (Lexington, Ky.), sophomore Matthew Gray (Fort Thomas, Ky.) and freshman Andrew Edwards (Louisville, Ky.) all landed in the individual top 20 for the meet. Dingle crossed the finish line in 28:43.1, followed by Gray at 28:44.8 and Edwards at 28:47.8.
The Centre cross country teams will have next week off before competing in the Greater Louisville Classic at the University of Louisville on Sept. 30.
