Riggs paces Centre men at Greater Louisville Classic
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – After a two-week layoff, the Centre men's cross country team returned to action at the Greater Louisville Classic at the University of Louisville. Competing against a field comprised of teams from all divisions, the Colonels posted a 15th place finish in their return.
Competing in the Blue race, senior Nathan Riggs (Campbellsville, Ky.) posted the best time for the Colonels, completing the 8k course at Louisville in 25:38.90 to finish in the overall top 25, 11th among Division III runners.
The next best time of the meet for the Colonels belonged to sophomore Matthew Gray (Fort Thomas, Ky.), who crossed the finish line in 27:04.71, good for 73rd overall in the Division III field. Freshman Andrew Edwards (Louisville, Ky.) posted a time of 27:11.70, while junior Keenan Jones (Frankfort, Ky.) finished in 27:16.09. Freshman David McGrade (Baton Rouge, La.) and sophomore Evan Miller (Worthington, Ohio) recorded respective times of 27:39.94 and 27:55.54 to finish off Centre's scores for the day.
The rest of the Centre men's cross country team competed in the Silver race and finished 38th, with the top time belonging to sophomore Cameron Durham (Savannah, Ga.), who completed the 8k course in 28:40.85.
The Colonels will be back in action next week when they travel to Owensboro, Ky. to compete in the Fast Cats Classic.
