Centre men take fourth at Fast Cats Classic
OWENSBORO, Ky. – The Centre men's cross country team competed in the Fast Cats Classic against a field comprised of teams from multiple divisions. The Colonels posted a fourth place finish at the meet out of 14 teams.
Centre finished with 98 points on the day, nine points behind the University of the Cumberlands. Berea won the event, followed by Christian Brothers, with Campbellsville rounding out the top five teams.
Individually, senior Nathan Riggs (Campbellsville, Ky.) posted the best time for the Colonels, taking 14th place on the 8k course with a time of 27:07.
The next two finishers in the race were also from Centre as freshman Andrew Edwards (Louisville, Ky.) completed the course in 27:20 to finish 15th, followed less than two seconds later by junior Keenan Jones (Frankfort, Ky.), who finished 16th overall in 27:22.
Sophomore Evan Miller (Worthington, Ohio) posted a time of 27:33 to finish just inside the individual top 25. Freshman David McGrade (New Orleans, La.) and sophomore Matthew Gray (Fort Thomas, Ky.) rounded out Centre's top six finishes with respective times of 27:49 and 27:54.
The Colonels will return to action on Oct. 13 for a rare Friday meet as they travel to Ohio to compete in the Wilmington Fall Classic.
