Brewer brilliant in 8-3 victory over Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Centre softball bounced back to defeat Rhodes, 8-3, in the Southern Athletic Association series finale Sunday, as Erika Brewer (Frenchburg, Ky.) pitched a complete game while allowing three runs (one earned).
Down 2-0 after two innings, Centre scored three in the bottom of the third to take a lead it would not give up. Melissa Collins (Louisville, Ky.) launched a two-run home run while Charlotte Mabbs (Olivette, Mo.) tallied a RBI single in the frame.
The Colonels added five more runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a commanding 8-3 lead. Sarah Fly (Franklin, Tenn.) and Mabbs both knocked in RBI singles while Ellen Stephens (Louisville, Ky.) recorded a sacrifice fly to left field.
Sarah Aubuchon (Lebanon, Tenn.) also tallied an RBI in the inning.
Collins, Fly, and Mabbs all led the Colonels with two RBIs in the victory. RileyAnne Sharpe (Huntsville, Ala.) also had a solid afternoon, going 4-for-4 and scoring two runs.
Brewer scattered just four hits while surrendering one earned run, picking up her 13th winning decision and 10th complete game of the season.
Centre returns home this weekend to face nationally-ranked Berry in a crucial late-season SAA matchup beginning on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
