Colonels end regular season with dual meet sweep
The Centre swim teams competed in their final meet of the regular season at Boles Natatorium, with both the men's and women's teams picking up a pair of wins over Asbury and Bellarmine.
On the men's side, the Colonels beat Asbury 124-92 and Bellarmine 131-81. The Centre men picked up one win in relay competition as the team of seniors James Leary (Atlanta, Ga.) and Knox McConnell (Lexington, Ky.), junior Wes McCrary (Winchester, Ky.) and freshman Patrick Wells (Louisville, Ky.) won the 200-yard freestyle relay.
In individual events, the Colonels had one multiple event winner as Patrick Wells took first place in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle. Junior Jess Pritchett (Louisville, Ky.) finished first in the 100-yard butterfly, while junior Spencer Vetter (Lexington, S.C.) won the 100-yard breaststroke. Senior Travis Adams (Shelbyville, Ky.) took first place in the 1m diving competition to round out the individual wins for Centre.
The Centre women defeated Asbury 141-61 and Bellarmine 146-54. The Colonels won two relays in the dual meet. The team of seniors Rachel Carter (Rock Hill, S.C.) and Maddie Mescher (Fort Mitchell, Ky.) and sophomores Kristen Holliday (Newark, Del.) and Kirsten Larson (Taylor Mill, Ky.) won the 200-yard medley relay, while the team of senior Clark Weber (Louisville, Ky.) junior Hadley Judson (Atlanta, Ga.) and freshmen Ginger Hall (Louisville, Ky.) and Chloe Peterson (Sturgeon Bay, Wisc.) won the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Three different swimmers won multiple events for Centre. Clark Weber picked up wins in the 500-yard and 1,000-yard freestyle. Hadley Judson finished first in the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyle. Ginger Hall won the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard breaststroke. Kristen Holliday rounded out the individual wins for Centre with a first place finish in the 200-yard individual medley.
The next meet for the Centre swim teams will be the SAA Championships, to be held in Birmingham, Ala. on February 12-15.
