Centre swim teams sweep Berry
The Centre swimming and diving teams competed in their first head to head meet of the year at Berry and came away with a pair of wins. The men won 150.5-133.5, while the women won 181-98.
On the men's side, senior Spencer Vetter (Lexington, Ky.) won a team high three events for the Colonels, taking first place in the 200-yard individual medley as well as the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke in a meet where every point counted.
The other multiple event winner for Centre was freshman Logan Oatman (Paducah, Ky.), who finished first in the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke, setting a Berry pool record in the process.
In other individual events for the men, senior John Kelley (Cincinnati, Ohio) took first place in the 200-yard freestyle, while sophomore diver Kyle Settles (Lexington, Ky.) won the 1m diving competition.
The Centre women had one relay win as the team of seniors Hadley Judson (Atlanta, Ga.) and Danielle Wahl (Colorado Springs, Colo.), junior Dana Reynolds (Bowling Green, Ky.) and freshman Cameron Beach (Greenville, S.C.) finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The relay members also had successful meets as individuals. Danielle Wahl won both the 200-yard freestyle and 200-yard butterfly. Hadley Judson finished first in both the 100-yard and 500-yard freestyle. Dana Reynolds took first place in the 1,000 yard freestyle.
Junior Kristen Holliday (Newark, Del.) won three events for the Colonels, taking first place in the 200-yard individual medley and also both the 100-yard and 200-yard backstroke. Other individual event winners for Centre included freshman Claire Coleman (Hurricane, W.Va.) in the 100-yard butterfly and freshman Sarah Hayhurst (Newburgh, Ind.) in the 1m diving competition.
The Centre swim teams will travel to Franklin, Ind. to take on Franklin and Bellarmine in a dual meet on Nov. 1st.
