Centre men sweep, women split final dual meet of season

The Centre swimming and diving teams traveled to the University of Louisville to compete in their penultimate meet of the season, a dual meet against Division II opponents Bellarmine and Missouri-St. Louis. The men's team came away with a sweep while the women's team split their two matches.

On the women's side, the Colonels defeated UM-St. Louis 198-33 and lost to Bellarmine 153-117. The Centre women picked up a pair of wins in relays. The team of senior Hadley Judson (Atlanta, Ga.), juniors Kristen Holliday (Newark, Del.) and Kirsten Larson (Taylor Mill, Ky.) and freshman Cameron Beach (Greenville, S.C.) finished first in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of senior Olivia Leftwich (Greenville, S.C.), sophomores Giuliana D'Adamio (Bowling Green, Ky.) and Elayna Seago (Sylva, N.C.) and freshman Claire Coleman (Hurricane, W.V.) took first place in the 400-yard medley relay.

In other individual events, Hadley Judson was a double winner, taking first in both a sprint and a marathon as she won the 100-yard and mile freestyles. Kristen Holliday was the Colonels' other individual event winner on the women's side, winning the 200-yard freestyle.

The Centre men swept both of their opponents using their depth. They defeated UM-St. Louis 178.5-95.5 and came away with a 156-128 victory against Bellarmine.

On the men's side, freshman Noah Martin (Spartanburg, S.C.) continued his excellent first collegiate year in the butterfly, winning at both 100 and 200 yards. Other winners for the Centre men included junior John Coogan (Nashville, Tenn.) in the 500-yard freestyle as well as senior John Ruble (Bagdad, Ky.) in the mile freestyle.

The Colonels will have one more meet to tune up for the SAA championships as they travel to Wilmore, Ky. on Jan. 30th to take on Asbury.
