Wahl sets school record in mile freestyle at NCAA Finals, earns All-American honors
Centre senior Danielle Wahl (Colorado Springs, Colo.) capped off an incredible career with Centre swimming on Saturday night in Shenandoah, Texas. Wahl finished seventh overall in the mile freestyle to earn the distinction of All-American and break the Centre school record in the process.
Wahl posted a time of 16:51.16 in the mile, knocking more than four seconds off of her NCAA qualifying time of 16:55.58, which had also ranked seventh in the country going into nationals and had been the previous Centre program record.
Wahl scored 12 points for her performance, which put the Colonels with 27 points for the finals after teammate and fellow All-American Sarah Hayhurst (Newburgh, Ind.) finished in fourth place at the 3m diving competition. With the points earned between the two, Centre finishes at 26th nationally.
