Colonels Open House of Champions Meet with Strong Swims

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (CentreAthletics.com) - The Centre swimming and diving teams took to the pool for the first of three days at the House of Champions meet, hosted by IUPUI. After the first day of competition, both men's and women's teams, competing as the only Division III program in the field, are in ninth place.

The opening day featured many preliminary events, but the Colonels put together some of their best times of the season, and in some instances, lifetime bests.

In the early session on Friday, all eight distance swimmers for Centre swam seasonal best times in their respective events, with four separate swimmers recording their lifetime fastest times.

Senior Kristen Holliday (Newark, Del.) had a standout performance in the 200-yard individual medley, posting a lifetime best time of 2:09.30 that ranked in the top five time in all of Division III going into the weekend.

Sophomore Cameron Beach (Greenville, S.C.) had an impressive sixth place finish in the 50-yard freestyle. Beach's time of 23:90 in that event ranked in the top ten in Division III coming into this weekend.

The House of Champions meet will resume on Saturday. Keep up with live results HERE or on the Centre swimming and diving schedule page.
