Centre Swim Teams Earn Senior Night Victory Over Asbury

DANVILLE, Ky. ( – The Centre swimming and diving teams wrapped up their 2015-16 regular season at Boles Natatorium as they took on the Asbury Eagles on Senior Night. The Colonels emerged with a sweep over Asbury, with the men's team winning 131-77 and the women's team winning by a score of 121-93.

On the men's side, the Colonels picked up a pair of wins in relay competitions. The team of sophomore Bradley Baker (Paducah, Ky.) and freshmen Matt Calvert (Danville, Ky.), Stephen Cosco (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Tyler Stevenson (Franklin, N.C.) took first place in the 400-yard medley relay. In the 400-yard freestyle relay, the team of sophomores Noah Martin (Spartanburg, S.C.) and Logan Oatman (Paducah, Ky.) and freshmen Mitchell Collins (Richmond, Ky.) and Evan Doyle (Louisville, Ky.) emerged victorious.

The Centre men also had several multiple event winners in individual events. Noah Martin continued his fantastic sophomore campaign with wins in the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard butterfly. Logan Oatman won both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. Mitchell Collins kept his strong freshman season going with wins in the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard breaststroke.

Wrapping up Centre's individual wins on the men's side, Tyler Stevenson picked up a win for the Colonels in the 1000-yard freestyle, while sophomore Jack Miller (Richmond, Ky.) finished first in the 1m diving competition.

The Centre women picked up one win in relay competition on Senior Night as the team of senior Kristen Holliday (Newark, Del.), sophomores Cameron Beach (Greenville, S.C.) and Claire Coleman (Hurricane, W.V.) and freshman Jacquelyn Engel (Lexington, Ky.) took first place in the 400-yard medley relay.

In addition to the relay win, all four swimmers from the 400-yard medley relay squad also won individual events for the Colonels. Kristen Holliday won twice, wrapping up her final meet at Boles Natatorium with wins in the 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard individual medley. Cameron Beach also earned two individual wins, once again taking first place in the 50-yard and 100-yard freestyle, both becoming signature events for the sophomore. Claire Coleman and Jacquelyn Engel won one event apiece, with Coleman winning the 100-yard backstroke and Engel taking first in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Sophomore Sarah Hayhurst (Newburgh, Ind.) continued her torrid pace in diving, scoring 262.35 points on the 1m board to take first place.

Next up for the Colonels will be the Southern Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships at Birmingham Southern. The event will take place on Feb. 10-12.
