Colonels Continue Strong Performance at House of Champions Day 2

INDIANAPOLIS ( – The second of three days of competition at the House of Champions meet is in the books from the natatorium at IUPUI and the Centre swimming and diving teams have continued to put up strong performances. With one day left to go in the competition, the men's team is in 12th place and the women's team is in eighth.

On the men's side, the Colonels finished with 144 points after 28 events. Both Centre relay squads had solid races against the field consisting of teams across all divisions. The team of juniors Logan Oatman (Paducah, Ky.), Bradley Baker (Paducah, Ky.), Noah Martin (Spartanburg, S.C.) and freshman Michael Hambleton (Lake Bluff, Ill.) posted a time of 1:38.10 in the 200-yard medley relay. Baker, Hambleton and Oatman teamed with freshman Arthur Ensign-George (Louisville, Ky.) to finish with a time of 7:12.97 in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

In other individual events, Logan Oatman placed ninth overall in his signature event, the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 51.50. Solid times were also turned in by Arthur Ensign-George and sophomore Tyler Stevenson (Franklin, N.C.) in the 200-yard freestyle.

The Centre women kicked off their Saturday with a strong start as the team of juniors Claire Coleman (Hurricane, W.Va.) and Cameron Beach (Greenville, S.C.), sophomore Jacquelyn Engel (Lexington, Ky.) and freshman Annie Holmes (Louisville, Ky.) completed the 200-yard medley relay in 1:50.57, knocking nearly five seconds off their preliminary time.

The women's 800-yard freestyle relay squad consisting of freshmen Chloe Grove (Bucyrus, Ohio), Annie Holmes, Maddie Huber (Fort Thomas, Ky.) and Amelia Blankenbeker (Jeffersonville, Ind.) posted a time of 7:48.04, marking the fifth best time in program history in that event.

In the 400-yard individual medley, senior Giuliana D'Adamio (Bowling Green, Ky.) finished with a lifetime best time of 5:02.42. The 200-yard freestyle was an excellent race for the Colonels as Annie Holmes, Maddie Huber, Amelia Blankenbeker and freshman Cat Gleason (Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.) all turned in seasonal best times. The same was true for the Centre women in the 100-yard backstroke as all four Centre swimmers in that event posted their best times of the season. Finally, the 100-yard breaststroke was another strong event for the Colonels as Jacquelyn Engel and freshman Allie Riley (Hendersonville, Tenn.) put in excellent times for Centre.

The House of Champions Meet will wrap up on Sunday, Nov. 20.
