Hayhurst Sweeps Regional Dive Meet with 1m Championship

GRINNELL, Iowa (CentreColonels.com) – The second day of competition wrapped up at the NCAA Region 2 Diving Championships at Grinnell College and Centre junior Sarah Hayhurst (Newburgh, Ind.) made it a weekend to remember with her second win in as many days, taking first place in the 1m diving competition.

Hayhurst scored 525.05 points on Saturday's 1m diving competition to take first place in the event. Maia Presti of Claremont-McKenna College finished second with 464.80 points, followed by Sarah Kate Mrkonich of Trinity with 432.20 points to finish in third.

The win for Hayhurst marks the fourth Regional Championship victory in her Centre career and her third straight on the 1m board. The two-time All-American also won the 3m diving competition on Friday evening.

With her wins at Grinnell, Hayhurst will advance to the NCAA Division III Diving Championships in Shenandoah, Texas.
