Three Conference Titles | 20 All-Americans | One Individual National Champion
Centre's Hayhurst closes diving career with All-America finish
INDIANAPOLIS – The final night at the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships featured the final diving competition in the career of senior Sarah Hayhurst (Newburgh, Ind.), and Centre's six-time All-American and two-time national runner-up diver added one more accolade to her collection.
Hayhurst, who earned her second national runner-up of her career on Thursday, finished third on the 3m board – her highest finish ever at three meters – for her second All-America honor of the week and the seventh of her collegiate diving career to go along with a pair of All-America honors in track and field in the pole vault.
Hayhurst scored 497.70 points in tonight's competition, including four dives of 50 or more points and a 60-point dive in her final meet with the Colonels.
In addition to the diving competition, there was also one last event for the Centre relay squad, as the team of sophomores Amelia Blankenbeker (Jeffersonville, Ind.), Chloe Grove (Bucyrus, Ohio) and Annie Holmes (Louisville, Ky.) alongside freshman Sarah Phillips (Lexington, Ky.) finished 30th in the nation in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:33.00.
All told, Centre finished with 33 points at this year's national championships, good for 21st out of 96 teams.
