@CCWBasketball Suffers Setback at Oglethorpe

ATLANTA (CentreColonels.com) – The Centre women's basketball team returned to Southern Athletic Association (SAA) play on Friday evening, falling by a score of 64-39 on the road at Oglethorpe at Dorough Field House.

The Colonels move to 3-10 overall and 1-1 in SAA action, while the Stormy Petrels improve to 8-5 and 2-0, respectively.

Sophomore forward Abigail Stewart (LaGrange, Ky.) and sophomore guard Lakken Miller (Liberty, Ky.) netted eight points apiece to pace Centre.

Stewart connected on 3-of-5 field goals and 2-of-2 free throws to go with a game-high three blocked shots for the Colonels, while Miller knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the contest.

Bailey Charles led Oglethorpe with 12 markers followed by Morgan Grindle off the bench with 10 points. Lauren Ranson pulled down a game-high eight rebounds for the Stormy Petrels in the victory.

Centre held a 31-27 rebounding edge and a 22-18 advantage in points in the paint.

The Colonels shot 32.6 percent (14-of-43) from the field and 90.0 percent (9-of-10) from the charity stripe, while Oglethorpe connected on 44.9 percent (22-of-49) of field goals, including 50.0 percent (8-of-16) from behind the arc to go with 75.0 percent (12-of-16) from the free throw line.

Centre are back in action on Sunday afternoon traveling to Berry for another SAA matchup at 1 p.m. ET.
