JACKSON, Miss. (CentreColonels.com) – The Centre women's basketball team suffered a 71-40 setback on the road at Millsaps in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) matchup on Sunday afternoon at the Hangar Dome.

The Colonels move to 5-13 overall on the season with a 3-4 mark in SAA play, while the Majors improve to 12-6 and 5-2, respectively. Millsaps has now won five of its last six games.

Sophomore forward Lauren Moore (Milton, Ky.) paced Centre with 11 points and a game-high nine rebounds off the bench, connecting on 4-of-7 field goals and 3-of-4 free throws in the contest.

Junior guard Olivia Schad (Cincinnati, Ohio) added nine markers for the Colonels to go with four rebounds and a team-high four assists.

Kala-Jewel Freeman netted a game-high 21 points and six rebounds for Millsaps, while Katie Connor dished out a game-high eight assists for the Majors.

Millsaps outshot Centre 53.1 percent (26-of-49) to 26.5 percent (13-of-49) in the game.

The Colonels held a 33-30 advantage in the rebounding column on the afternoon.

Centre returns home to host Birmingham Southern on this Friday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. ET at Alumni Gymnasium.
