Colonels Topped by Rhodes in SAA Tilt

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (CentreColonels.com) – The Centre women's basketball team dropped a 61-37 decision to host Rhodes in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) matchup on Friday night at Mallory Gymnasium. The Colonels fall to 6-17 overall and 4-8 in SAA play with the loss, while the Lynx improve to 5-18 on the season and 4-8 in conference action.

Senior guard Caroline Andreassen (Kenosha, Wis.) paced Centre with seven points in the contest, while sophomore forward Cheyenne Bunner (Mars Hill, N.C.) added six points and matched a team-high with seven boards off the bench.

Freshman forward Mikayla Fee (Seymour, Ind.) also pulled down seven rebounds and sophomore forward Abigail Stewart (LaGrange, Ky.) added five points and six boards in the game.

Allie Young netted a game-high 14 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Bailey Kramer notched a double-double of 11 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Blaire Smith finished with 11 points followed by Jessie Ustick with 10 points.

Rhodes held a slim 40-39 rebounding edge in the game to go with advantages of 20-7 in points in the paint, while the Colonels outscored the Lynx 26-20 in the paint and 15-12 in bench points.

Centre returns to action with another SAA road contest on Sunday afternoon at Hendrix. Tip off is slated for 12 p.m. CT from Conway, Ark.
