Stewart garners SAA Player of the Week nod
ATLANTA – Junior forward Abigail Stewart (LaGrange, Ky.) has been named the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
The Centre standout is coming off a career day against Millsaps, scoring 36 points while shooting 13 of 17 from the field and a pristine 10 for 10 at the free throw line. Her monstrous effort more than doubled her previous career high, and came one point shy of tying the program's single-game scoring record.
Stewart added six rebounds, three blocks and an assist in the 89-72 victory over the Majors.
Friday, she led the Colonels with eight rebounds while chipping in four points, two steals and one assist. Stewart also had her hands full defensively against BSC leading scorer Emilee Olsen.
Stewart and Co. have won nine games in a row and are 12-1 overall this season, including a perfect 3-0 in the SAA. They travel to face Berry this Friday for a 8 p.m. ET tip, in their first of four straight road matches.
