Colonels in Ninth after 18 Holes at MCC Women's Intercollegiate
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (CentreColonels.com) - The first day of play is in the books at the Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate tournament. With 18 holes remaining, the Centre women's golf team sits in ninth place.
The Colonels fired a combined team score of 328 on Sunday to finish in ninth place for the opening half of the two-day tournament. Centre is one shot behind Oglethorpe and leads Piedmont by 14 shots. Rhodes, host school Huntingdon and Trinity (Texas) comprise the top three after the first day of competition.
Individually, the low scorer for the day for Centre was junior Jill Edgington (Edgewood, Ky.), who had three birdies in her opening round and finished with a score of 80 after going one over par on the front nine.
Junior Eliza Hudson (Mauckport, Ind.) fired a round of 82, salvaging a tough start with four straight pars to end the round.
Freshmen twin sisters Rachel Fine (Lexington, Ky.) and Rebecca Fine (Lexington, Ky.) each posted scores of 83 on Sunday. Both players recorded a birdie in one of their final two holes, with Rachel Fine adding a birdie on the par 5 third hole.
Junior Alison Miller (Lexington, Ky.) finished with a round of 86 to finish off the scoring for the Colonels on Sunday. Miller had birdies on the par 5 third and seventh holes, as the Colonels as a team were two under par on the third hole.
