Women’s Golf Shoots 314 on Monday to Finish 8th at MCC Intercollegiate
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (CentreColonels.com) – The Centre women's golf team wrapped up play at the 2016 Montgomery Country Club Women's Intercollegiate, hosted by Huntingdon. After a slow opening day, the Colonels had one of the better team rounds of Monday's competition, shooting 314 to finish in eighth place overall.
The Colonels' combined team score of 314 was the fourth best round of the Monday session. Centre finished with a two-day score of 642, finishing three shots back of Birmingham Southern and one shot ahead of Oglethorpe, who led the Colonels after Sunday's opening round. Rhodes, Huntingdon and Berry were the top three finishing teams at the event.
Individually, the low scorer of the day for the Colonels was junior Jill Edgington (Edgewood, Ky.), who had three birdies on the day to finish at 76 on Monday, which combined with her round of 80 on Sunday, tied her for 11th place overall for the tournament with a two-day score of 156.
Junior Alison Miller (Lexington, Ky.) posted a score of 77, making up nine shots from her Sunday round. Miller had consecutive birdies for the Colonels on the par 5 18th hole and the par 4 first hole.
Freshman Rachel Fine (Lexington, Ky.) finished Monday with a round of 79, improving four shots from her Sunday score. Fine finished the day with a pair of birdies and recorded an eagle on the par 5 seventh hole.
Junior Eliza Hudson (Mauckport, Ind.) equaled her Sunday score with another round of 82, including a birdie on the par 3 17th hole. Freshman Rebecca Fine (Lexington, Ky.) posted a score of 84, recording birdies on the third and 18th holes.
The Colonels will be off from tournament play next week, but will return on Oct. 9-11 to compete in the Golfweek Fall Invite in Destin, Fla.
